Co-op Initiatives

Southeast Milk, Inc. is looking for ways to increase sustainability beyond what happens before the milk leaves the farm. Whether it is adopting electric tanker shuttles at milk plants, running paperless manifests, or converting our fleet to alternative fuel sources, the cooperative is always exploring new ways to reduce our impact to the environment.

Southeast Milk also proudly promotes a culture of development amongst its employees, offering training, education reimbursement, and much more. We proudly invest into our team of employees. We also proudly invest into our local communities through involvement, donations and sponsorships of community & youth organizations, like local food banks, 4-H, and FFA.

Our goal is to minimize shared costs to our membership, allowing them to focus on feeding a growing population with fresh, wholesome, and delicious milk and dairy products. In turn, they can maintain the most profitable sustainability practices in order to continue their farming legacies for generations to come. This starts by adding value to an SMI membership through supplies and services offered, as well as diversified revenue streams.

In addition to its own standards of sustainability, Southeast Milk is a proud member of both the U. S. Dairy Stewardship Commitment and the U. S. Dairy Sustainability Alliance, which track and promote progress towards common goals across the supply chain, including farmers, cooperatives, processors, and other industry partners. These programs assure consumers their purchased dairy products are sourced responsibly, nourish the community, and meet continuously improving standards.
