Lussier Family

Kevin & Shelby Lussier

Kevin and his wife, Shelby, manage two dairies in Hawthorne, Florida with Kevin's family. Upon graduation from Jacksonville University, Kevin stepped into managing the family farm. Slowly, he and Shelby have been able to buy into the business and diversify. Earlier this year, they purchased some additional cattle and cheese making equipment to start their artisan creamery, Hawthorne Creek Creamery. Kevin manages operations at both the dairy and the cheese plant, while Shelby handles the marketing and customer relations side of the business.

Kevin currently sits on the Board of Directors for his local Cattlemen's association, the Florida Farm Bureau Dairy Advisory Committee, the Young Beginning & Small Farmers committee for Farm Credit, the Alachua county 4-H advisory committee, and co-chairs the Alachua County Farm Bureau's Young Farmer and Rancher group. He also sits on the Hawthorne Chamber of Commerce's board and volunteers at his local church as well.

Hawthorne Creek Creamery

  • Kevin and Shelby Lussier followed their passion and continued the family’s long-standing tradition of milking cows.
  • While learning the ropes at the dairy, they saw the opportunity to diversify the family farm. In 2019 Kevin and Shelby, with the help of Kevin’s parents Matt and Linda, took the opportunity to start Hawthorne Creek Creamery.
  • Using milk from their Jersey cows, they produce handcrafted, farm-fresh artisan cheese. Today, their cheese can be found in several restaurants and many Publix grocery stores.
